Anyone who has ever played sports has probably heard the expression, “It’s game time!” Coaches scream it at players to get them in the appropriate frame of mind, players yell it at each other to get one another focused, and fans scream it because they are excited, and maybe they have been waiting for this moment for months. I got to admit: When I hear the expression it sends chill bumps up and down my back. It brings back memories of big game days, the excitement and cheers of fans, and the energy and enthusiasm found within locker rooms. It even reminds me that some moments are bigger than just one person. And because they are bigger than little ole me, it makes them even more special.
I think Christians need to come to a realization once again: IT’S GAME TIME. Its time that we get excited about who we are living for, its time we get focused on the mission (or should I say “commission”) God has called us to, and its time we start encouraging each other “to get our heads in the game”. Because, in all actuality, IT’S NOT A GAME! We’re talking about eternity and something that is much bigger than many of us give it credit. But even though it’s not a game, the excitement behind it should be just as real, the seriousness of it never taken lightly, and our focus, as believers, unwavering. There are souls to be won, lives to be lived to the fullest, and a mission to accomplish. IT’S GAME TIME, SO LET’S GET OUT HEADS IN THE GAME!
